I am looking at what appears to be an extremely nice Model 43 Deluxe in 25-20 with a very low serial number in upcoming auction. Please look at accompanying photos of the sling swivels. Are these factory correct? Also I understand from a previous post from Bert that a factory correct magazine should be marked on the left side Model 43 over 25-20, true? I am using the 4th edition of the Red Book for guidance on price. Any recommended adjustment, +/-, on price for the higher condition price levels on this rifle?

Hi Mac-
The M43 deluxe had set same standard sling swivels as the M43 standard grade. Really, the presence of checkering and a plastic/hard rubber grip cap were the only differences.
The photos of Bert’s rifles in the WACA magazine article and of mine on the cover of that issue are factory standard.

No, the sling swivels are not factory correct. I do not know if the 25-20 and 32-20 magazines were marked in the same fashion as the 22 Hornet and 218 Bee magazines.

Sorry that I don’t know this, but how do I access Bert’s article on-line? I tried searching but no luck. I too am a lover of the 43 – a poor man’s M70!!!

Go to Publications at top of the WACA page:
-open Publications menu and hit Magazines
-scroll down to Spring 2016 magazine
-open the magazine and read-away (it’s a little cumbersome depending upon what you are using to view articles)

I am considering purchase of the Model 43 Deluxe 25-20 identified in my original post and would want to replace the non-factory sling swivels with correct or near-correct sling swivels. I believe a sling swivel set from a pre-64 standard model 70 would be correct fit/form/function assuming the rifle’s stock and forearm hole dimensions have not been altered. Have I got this right? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Hi, I realize this is an old thread but maybe someone will read it. I am also looking for a swivel for my model 43, though I have one of them and it’s original so I know what to look for. As already mentioned yours are not original, and I’m pretty sure the model 70 has the same ones. I wonder if you bought the 43 after all?
