Ran across a model 94 at a gun show with a serial number beginning with CQ.

Anyone have information on that type of serial number?

It is most likely one of the Model 94 Commemorative editions, though I do not know which specific one. The standard production Model 94s did not prefix letters on the serial numbers.

I figured it was a Commemorative, but didn’t see any edition on the Winchester Commemoratives list under the Resources tab that would relate to an abbreviation of CQ. Was thinking maybe it stood for Canada (or Canadian) Quebec, but can’t find any info to support that theory.

How long is the barrel? Popular use of “CQ” today is the military-derived “Close Quarters” but hard to make the leap from that to a 94.
