Good morning,

https://www.proxibid.com/Firearms-Military-Artifacts/Firearms/Early-Winchester-Model-1892-Special-Order-Takedown-Rifle/lotInformation/44818271

SN 1433 was a standard OB solid frame 44 WCF sporting rifle not a takedown frame.  The caliber stamp is on the left flat which is WRONG.  The hammer and lever are blued instead of case hardened which is WRONG.  This is not an “all-original first year of production special order 1892 rifle.”

I would have to see the upper tang stamp to know that.  A Model 53 would have a Type 6 tang stamp vs. a Type 1 (photos)1892-Type-6.jpgImage Enlarger on it which has NO model designation.  That would be pretty obvious to most collectors.  I think??!!

Yes, the upper tang would make it clear but the auction house has conveniently forgotten to post any photos of the upper tang markings
