Did the metallic composition or integrity of the model 1886 receiver change much over their production years? If so, how and when. Thanks for any input.
I do not believe that any changes were made to the steel alloy of the Model 1886 receiver frames during the course of its production run. I believe that the heat treating process may have changed slightly when the 33 WCF cartridge was introduced in 1902.
