Outside my knowledge. I am away from my books at home and cutting cedar at the ranch. I need a bit of info on a Model 1886 sporting rifle manufactured during 1907. Round barrel, full mag, shotgun butt. Not the sexiest configuration. Marked “50-EX.” on the top of the barrel. Looks like little or no bluing on the receiver or maybe CH but I need better photos. Is this a 50-110-EX or a 50-100-450 EX or is there a third variation? Can somebody check on the number produced in this caliber in John Madl’s book?
Thanks much for the help

Did not find the info you are looking for maybe others can find production numbers I did not. Hate to see a guy have to stop cutting cedar.

Thanks so much for your concern Dominic!! It is so much fun to do. And it is MUCH better to do it this time of year here in Texas than in the summer!!!

Thanks Bob. Too bad the article title reads Model 1866. The old magazines are fun to read for sure.

Michael,
I had that article photocopied before I joined WACA and corrected it on my copy.

About the only guns I use for hogs are a thermal sighted .308 and another one set up with a night vision scope. Most of the hogs tend to show up around dusk which makes iron sights pretty difficult. I like the quietness of a bow and you have a better chance at shooting the first one which comes in and then a slow poke after that. With a rifle it’s a one and done deal most times. I stuck a nice big boar this evening! And going out with the thermal gun in just a minute.
