OfflineWith the limited pictures of the wood to metal fitment it looks like an original Schutzen rifle. No such thing as a deluxe, collector term. Fancy, checkered is what Winchester would call it. But if it is a real Schutzen it is pretty much how they came. With cheek piece, Schutzen butt, and set triggers.
Bert will tell you which Schutzen.

OfflineThe rifle in question is actually a “Special Single Shot Rifle” versus a “Schuetzen”, and it is perfectly original as shown in your pictures.
Winchester manufactured four distinctly different variations of their Single Shot rifles;
1. Plain Sporting Rifle
2. Fancy Sporting Rifle
3. Special Single Shot Rifle
4. Schuetzen Rifle (not introduced until the year 1895)

Bert, thanks I recently purchased it and a couple older plain 94’s that are 32-40 Cal as well. What kind of value would the 85 usually have?
Assuming it has an excellent bore, and the rest of the rifle (not pictured) is in the same condition as the parts I can see, it could very easily be a $10K rifle. I would like to see a complete set of pictures showing all parts of the rifle.

I smiled to myself when I saw the title of this thread. Not only no such thing as a deluxe, but no such thing as a model 1885 and no such thing as a high wall. Of course these are terms we all use, but those terms weren’t used by Winchester.
By the way, very nice single-shot rifle!

Agreed, but it drew us in to see a remarkable Winchester. Nice rifle, Jesse. thanks for posting the pics! I often wonder what the Winchester folks whose records we so critically scrutinize would think of our collector jargon.

OnlineSteve,
Good point, as I think, they might like to hear our Jargon, if it were possible, as to enhance and add to what was all started a long time ago, and us many collectors try to add to the perfection they had in mind!
Jesse, it’s okay to add more pictures in many more different angles, letting many of us drool some more here!
