And I am going to side with the fellows who are discussing it in detail (or nitpicking it as a few of you have stated). There are quite obviously several of our regulars here on the forum that are learning from this discussion, and that makes this topic post worth the time and effort.
In regards to the rifle, nobody (including the seller) has misrepresented it or claimed that it was authentic. It is merely being used on this forum as an example of what to look for when evaluating a restoration.

Careful evaluation of a well-done restoration is a valuable exercise. When all is said and done, I would have to agree with Mike Hunter … it is a beautiful restoration and I would love to own it. A ’76 like that in original condition would be so far out of my reach that it would only be a pipe dream. Second best would be owning that one.
I must say that that I think the case colours are well done …. more muted than Turnbull’s.
The thing is for it to get that high 2 people had to think it was original.
