I have a M92 .44 SRC made in 1909 (#484206) that has the last 3 digits of the serial number stamped on the rear top of the breech block and also on the tang of the butt plate, in very small numbers (about 0.040″ high). I have never seen this on M92 Winchesters before. Has anyone else seen anything similar on M92’s?
I havent seen an 1892 stamped with the last three digits of the serial number at those locations. Most will have assembly numbers but not on the top of the bolt or where it can be seen on the buttplate. Have seen assembly numbers or inspectors marks on the side of the bolt, and assembly numbers under the buttplate, on the bottom of the frame by the trigger, but they do not correspond to the serial number digits. If you can post some pics to see what you have.

Rod:
That reminds me of the unique inventory number that was stamped on arms sold by James Rosier on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne, Australia. He has very small, neat numbers but they were never versions of the manufacturers serial number and only resided on one location on each piece.
