Have a 1907 with a bayonet attachment and it looks pretty well done.  It does not however look like a Police rifle.  There are grooves under the barrel for screws to fit in like the 1897 riot shotguns and the groove for the front sight was might have been ground down but looks professional or dare I say it, factory.  Need to see a real Police rifle with bayonet to compare.  Thank you!

John,  You most likely won’t get a picture sent for a Police Model 07.  They are very, very rare!  One thing that I remember is that the rear sight was fixed, and it was in a dovetail.  The dovetail slot from the front of the receiver on the standard Model 07 was four inches.  The Police Model rear sight was closer, and I’m sorry  I have forgotten the exact distance.  I hope that this may help you!

Do a Google image search and you will find a few photos of these with the bayonet adaptor.  The adaptor had only 2 screws instead of 3 as found on the trench shotgun bayonet adaptors.  They did not have heat shields.   And it took a different bayonet than the Model 1917 as used on the trench shotguns.  I think it was either a Krag bayonet or one Winchetser made for rifles they manufactured for the Russians.

Thanks for the responses guys!  I just wanted to compare my bayonet adapter to theirs – I have seen the photos of Police Models and my adapter looks exactly like theirs including the front sight and two screws.  I would like to see closeups of their barrel without the adapter to see how the factory police models were modified at the factory compared to mine which I suspect was also installed at the factory.  I do not have the special rear sight or beefed up stock of the true Police Model and there are no markings from a prison or police station.   It has British proofs and was made late 1913 – early 1914 – timing is good for 120 of these purchased by the British for use in WWI airplanes.  Of course, there are no serial numbers recorded for these snd no mention of bayonets.  I would like to at least determine if the bayo lug was installed at the factory.    To make matters more confusing, there is a “P” and a “U.S.” on the bottom of the grip.  Since the 1907 is not really valuable or a collectors item with any markings on them why anyone would put a bayo adapter and US markings on this is beyond my comprehension.

i apologize for the quality of the photos.  These do not look like any “P” or “U.S.” marks that I have seen on other military weapons.

Yes, the martial markings are very suspect.  Never seen one marked that way.  In fact. I can’t recall seeing one with the bayo adaptor that had any martial markings.
