I am new here, so first off I’d like to say Thank You for the replies in advance. Yesterday I picked up a pretty nice Model 70 but I can find no info any where on the internet, I was hoping someone could let me know a little more about the rifle and an approximate value of the rifle. It is an 2008 Model 70 Super Grade in 300 Win Mag, It says on the side 2008 Special Limited Edition, in another place it says 1 of 250, it has a gold ring at the muzzle and gold on the barrel at the receiver and on the receiver, the floor plate has an engraved elk scene with model 70 Super Grade on it. It is really a beautiful rifle I never knew Winchester used such nice wood. Anyway I was just hoping someone here would have heard of or seen one of these rifles before as I cant find one anywhere on the internet to get an approximate value.
Thanks Again for your help.

Welcome to the forum!
As I understand it (according to the Blue Book) 2008 was the first year FN reintroduced the M70 with the controlled feed action. It was also called the Model 70 Sporter (Deluxe) or Model 70 Featherweight (Deluxe). During the first year the floorplate was engraved “2008 Model 70 Limited Edition”. Your rifle sounds like a possible variation of that model. Blue Book value for the Deluxe model is $695 for a 98% gun. Sounds a bit low to me, if the Deluxe edition is as good a gun as the early 2008 Super Grades that’s a lot of rifle for the money, IMHO.
I purchased two Super Grades the following year and the wood was exceptionally beautiful, probably much like yours.

The “Limited Edition” 2008 rifles were manufactured in a Browning factory in Utah. If you look at the barrel stamp, you will see your it will say “Made in USA, BACO Inc, Morgan Utah”. BACO is Browning Arms Co. This was the year FN took over production of the Model 70 and the Morgan, Utah factory was used to supplement production as their new South Carolina facilities were coming up to speed.
I own a .30-06 Featherweight from this “limited edition” batch. They are well-made rifles with an interesting back-story that is part of the Model 70’s strange and twisting production history. I do not believe they are valued any differently than a “non-limited edition” rifle of the same vintage, but made in SC.
Enjoy your new rifle!
