Hello, what’s the best way to find a front sight hood for a pre-64 model 70? The rifle was born in 1951. I would like to try and find a hood of the year the rifle was built. I’m really not interested in a reproduction for now. Thank you.

Check eBay, if you don’t find one here. Just looked on eBay and there are none currently listed (hard to believe as there’s usually half a dozen or so). It’s usually not indicated what year gun the sight is off, although on occasion sellers may note the vintage. Try to get one to match the wear on your rifle. There are repos out there. Going rate is $50.00 or so.

Thank you Tedk. I did find a seller with some on Gun International. They were advertised as pre-64. Condition were good to every good. I ordered one. Hopefully, it will match up to the bluing of the barrell. If not, I’ll keep looking around to see what I can find. Thank you for responding.
