My Winchester 94 rifle was made in 1920…the link assembly will not go up and stay in position in the frame when the lever is brought up into the closed position. The link assembly hangs down about 1/8″ after the lever is up. The butt-stock has recently been replaced. Any thoughts other than old age for this old girl? Thanks in advance.
Are you talking about when the bolt is closed, there is an 1/8″ space between the top of the lever loop and the lower tang? If so, they do not press tight against the lower tang until you grip the wrist through the lever engaging the safety stop. If its the floor plate (link) your talking about then the friction stud or friction stud spring may be worn out. The other possibility is that the lever is bent and will not allow the floor plate or link to fully close. Just a guess without seeing whats happening.

Thanks Chris…checked the friction stud and spring against a rifle that works properly…both are identical so that does not appear to be the issue. I will send you a photo later today. There has to be some part binding, or loose up in the frame. I may have to take the stock off and see if that provides a clue.
