Hello there,
This is not about a Winchester and maybe I shouldn’t post this here but I wouldn’t know where else.
I have this El Tigre, a Spanish copy of the Winchester 92 made by Garate Anitua y Compania somewhere in the beginning of the 20th century. What year it is produced, is something that is not to be known as there are no records anymore. But it is produced for sure before 1927 because it has no markings from the Spanish proof house.
But that is not so interesting about it. What is interesting, is that it has a stamp that I never have seen before and nobody whom I spoke to can tell me what it is. It looks like a shield with the letters KAHAZET in it. According to the only website that I found mentioning it some years ago (and even if you would hit me in the face with all your strength, I wouldn’t be able to tell you what website that was), after WW II, an arms dealer called KHZ (in German K is pronounced KA, H is pronounced HA and Z is pronounced ZET) bought the surplus from the German army (that was disarmed) and put his stamp on the guns. These El Tigres apparently were used in small numbers by the German army in WW II but I never have seen a stamp like that before.
Does anyone know this stamp, please?
I try to put a picture of it in here.
Kind regards
