OnlineTim and Steve,
You guy’s are preaching to the choir as far as I’m concerned!
Tim,
I also work on my memory every day, and refresh it a lot! Just part of our adventure getting older I guess!
Steve,
I feel you’re situation as I too went through those same situations as the last couple of years of work, before I chose to retire two years ago, and boy am I glad I did. Half of what comes out of the so called younger generations, mouths, I find I have no interest in hearing, and either walk away, or try to block it out anyway. Getting older has it’s rewards also, as I like to play possum a lot! LOL!

Good to hear you are enjoying retirement. You describe perks of retirement. When you’re retired you can simply walk away from a lot of things. In the work world, it’s not so easy. Which I know you appreciate and which is an aspect of why you find retirement so enjoyable.
Speaking of the work world, I have seen seminars advertised with the title, “Managing a multi-generational workforce.” It makes sense to me that such seminars would be offered.
Back to the topic, anyone know of a, “real” .33 SRC for sale? (Hopefully not at an auction – and particularly not at a Wards auction).

As you know I’m a few years younger than you but I retired over a year ago. I was partly motivated to retire by the attitudes of younger co-workers and others. In short I got tired of being regarded as old and stupid. I had over four decades of experience in my field and could handle the physically demanding tasks better than any of the youngsters but decided wrestling heavy truck parts and tolerating disrespect was not worth the paycheck. Our experiences and depth of knowledge is simply not relevant to the smart kids any more than some of the time-wasting social media platforms are to us. My retirement gave me more time to pursue interests few young folks would understand, and that’s OK with me. I feel like a youngster around here with some very knowledgeable scholars and more to learn than will be possible with the time I have left.

I’ve talked to a couple members here on the phone and it’s always enjoyable. Maybe a WACA, “party line” would be fun!
Yes, it would most definitely be fun… I remember warning my one of my “chatty” girlfriends about the party-line we were talking on and to keep her conversations clean (like she was talking to her grandmother!). I lived on a 2.5 mile long dead end road (a little more than halfway down that road), and everyone on that road (14 total homes) was on the same party-line. Pick up the phone and listen before dialing to see if it was already in use (or ease drop on your neighbor).

When I was growing up party lines were being phased out but I knew a girl who was on one. She had a nosy neighbor (or two) and was very alert to someone picking up. I’m not so sure about a WACA party line, the few conference call meetings I attend are a bit frustrating. Could be fun.

It is good to hear from others who know of what I spoke of. Quite the contrast to sitting in a room of quite a few people and not a single other person had the slightest inkling of what a party line was.
This forum is sort of like a party line as we all get to hear (read) what everyone is saying.
