Appears to be a broken link or it was taken down.

I just wonder if it’s the same gentleman I met at a show in November/or January, if it is he taught me that the width of the muzzle was the best way to make sure it hadn’t been cut down. Super nice guy  with a table full of really nice stuff. He even let me hold something he had stashed under the table,it was a musket and it’s pathetic that I can’t remember what it was. It was the kid in the candy store syndrome- trying to learn as much as possible while trying to retain more than 25%.

51 active listings on GI; not exactly an “amateur” gun-dealer, I’d say.

I would really like to see the Winchester address roll marking on the barrel. Based on what I am seeing, somebody is either scary good at making a fake Trapper, or it is most likely the real thing.

If I’m seeing the pictures correctly, both guns are in the letterable range.

I believe the 17 inch carbine was in the 900000 range but can’t view either of the photos since both sold already.  Anyone here snatch them up?

You’re right.  I looked at the serial number photos and I thought they both started with 3 but the 17″ has a much later upper tang mark.

I think it’s a very good restoration and not original. My two cents..

So it drove me crazy all day, so I got home and thumbed through some old WACA magazines and sure enough, I found a picture of the gentleman with the listings( at least I believe it to be) it is the guy I talked to recently and having never been to Cody(which is what show this picture is from) someone might recognize him

They haven’t sold and are still on GI. The 17″ looks like its 927912

Bob,

I get the message that they are both sold ?  Is there an option to view or search completed listings ?

Bert,

I’m just clicking on the links above. It takes me right to them.

I can find the un-sold 16″, but not the sold 17″, & no way to search “sold” that I can find.

You must have the secret password–“listing not found” is what I get.  Anybody else?

Can anyone make out the first number of the serial number?  I can’t.  This gun scares me. I want to say the bluing on the receiver looks too thick?

Looks like serial number 927912 to me.  That would make it consistent with the upper tang marking.
