I inherited a Winchester 1894 , 32 caliber and a Marlin 30/30 lever action both made in 1901.

Both are in working condition and id like to sell them to someone who can appreciate them for what they are. Ive done some research and the Marlin, which has a serial number of 222162 tracks to 1901. ( i think) The Winchesters serial number is 138736. Can someone point me in the right direction as far as what should i do here. Neither rifle has been registered.

thanks

Unless you live in one of the ultra liberal states, it is not necessary to “register” old firearms.

If the Winchester Model 1894 is s/n 138736, it was manufactured in early 1902.

The first thing that you will need to do is take clear pictures of both rifles, including all of the factory markings you see on the barrels and receiver frame.  The pictures will allow us to identify which specific variation, caliber, and configuration for each of the rifles, and to evaluate the graded condition.  All of that information is needed to assess the potential value.

I know its not relevant here but yesterday i pulled out a Springfield Armory model1903. Its turning out to be quite a collection.. when i originally thought it was just the winchester 1894 and the marlin 1893.

The pictures of the Model 1894 show a Take Down Sporting rifle that is in poor condition.  It has almost zero value in the collector market, and minimal value as a shooter grade or parts rifle.  There was just a single picture of the Marlin, but it also appears to be in hard used condition.
