OfflineTony,
There are no available records for any of the commemorative or special edition firearms that were manufactured by the U.S. Repeating Arms Company (USRACo).
Based on the information on the WACA Resources tab, it appears to me that all of the Great Western Artist I & II commemoratives were manufactured for sale in the U.S. market – Winchester Commemoratives -Winchester Collector

OfflineTony, I think You will find the gun You have is actully a “Great Western Artist 1” , made in New Haven Ct. 1982, and sent to Italy for the engraving by Giovanelli. They also made a G.W.A.2. It originally came in a hard fabric case with leather handle and 2 prints of the guns artwork inside. They were mfg’d with no butt plate or saddle ring and if it was complete and new condition about $3,000.00+ -. And yes they came back to the U.S.

OfflineIs this the only, “Winchester” lever rifle standardly made with no buttplate?
I see there are three listed on gunbroker at present:
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1135104546
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1137263084
And this one is used. Started at a penny with no reserve. It will be interesting what it sells for:
