We were literally just posting about these a week or two ago! “Wow” on the condition and completeness…

Fantastic.  If I could only win the lottery, I’d lay this one in and hang it over the mantle of a new house high on a hill in Astoria, with a view of the Columbia estuary.  So I could admire it while reading Jack London on foggy days. This piece deserves no less.

Bill,

Funny you should bring up Astoria… that is my home town where I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s.  I still have property just outside of Astoria, and make frequent trips to Astoria OR from my home in Kingston, WA.

Interest to see one with all the accessories.  I’ve seen them now and then.  Question, do they need special BATF clearance due to barrel length?

Steve,

Most of them are listed in Section III of the BATF’s Curio & Relic listing including the gun in this topic.

Sure, and at my special rate of 100% interest compounded monthly.  My brother “Guido” will collect for me.

Not to poopoo on this unique form of an 86, but does any one else think the butt plate, lever and hammer don’t match the condition of the rest of it?

It looks good to me, the butt, lever and hammer have a lot of finish, as well as wood, barrel, mag, and if you notice the lower tang has a lot of blue also. In that time period the frames had the flaking thing going on and with cleaning would would fade more. On top edges of frame on  sides of bolt, the blue is still there. I have an 86 from that time frame with most of finish intact except for the take down rec extension white

Looks like a former museum exhibit. Suspect some components have been restored or re-created. Pretty cool.
