Thought I would share some photos I took of a model 1873 44-40 Rifle I picked up in Reno from Clarence Parks.

A nice old (made 1886)) correct and original rife that’s been used a little over the years and really cared for. Thanks to Clarence and a few members here who looked it over for me.

Thanks Guys, it was my first “Winchester Show” and I really had a good time, especially finally meeting some of the members here in person.

XLIV, the cleaning rods originally came from a 1873, but not this one. I already had them so the new 1873 claimed them.

Ditto from me, Kevin.

Are you going to put a few rounds through it and expand your relationship with your new acquisition  ?

Awesome rifle, Kevin.   I have one about a year older, but not quite as good condition.

It was great meeting you and many of the other Winchester collectors at the show.  I was the guy with the Model 12 trench gun.

You did well with that one Kevin. Clarence had a number of beautiful examples, as usual. I’m glad you were able to acquire such a nice one. It also pleases me to see rifles being passed from one member to another. I sure enjoy the Reno show and the comradery in the WACA community you see there.

Tom, enjoyed meeting you and thanks for giving me a look at the Model 12, I had never seen a Trench Gun before. Seeing one in practically new condition was extra special!

Damn, sure am sorry I had to miss Reno this year. After I had made all arrangements to go I had to cancel, extended family thing. But I’ll try again next year. In addition I lost my phone and there were no US Cellular stores where I was, so I just got back into the 21st century this past week. I have a hundred messages to review and answer, beside all the info on this forum I missed when I didn’t have PC at hand. Glad Reno was as good as ever.
