My Question? Does anyone know how to research a Henry Rifle serial number to see if it was used in the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated.

The closest gun I have in my Springfield Research that shows up is 2797. I don’t have the 4th book so someone else can check.

Are there any markings on the gun, especially on the right side of the receiver and barrel? Even if your Henry was not issued to the Military there is a good chance it was used during the war. Unless there is more information nothing can be proved. I forget the Lady’s last name that can research the Henry but her first name is Vonnie.
