Looking for some help identifying a rifle. I recently inherited it from my dad and know nothing about it. I know it’s an older Winchester .308, but nothing beyond that. Would like to know model number, year, and any history this model might have. I have pictures, but can’t figure out how to load them here. Can someone help? I can email or FB pics to you.

Hello Steve,
Winchester first introduced the 308 Winchester cartridge in the Model 70 bolt-action rifle in the year 1952. The Model 88 lever-action rifle was introduced in 1955 chambered for the 308 Winchester cartridge, followed by the Model 100 semi-automatic rifle in the year 1961. All three of these models are clearly marked on the left side of the barrel near the rear sight.
