1894 Winchester when working the action slow the final close-up of the bolt is very difficult over the back of the shell rim.

Is there a fix for this? It’s not just one 94; it’s all of them in my collection.

Are you single loading? The extractor has to ride over rim. Is brass reloaded and used in different guns?

Yes there is a fix for it… stop closing the action like it is a glass door.  It was meant to be closed with some authority.

No, the brass is only used in one firearm.

I wish I could find the publication an old friend used to quote, he would say the Winchester action should be cycled “smartly”. I always smile when I remember him passing along that little gem.

I also forgot to mention if you’re using factory ammo, try some different brands/designs. I have a newer lever in 45 Colt that is VERY finicky and likes Hornady Leverevolution but hates the cowboy action (HSN? HSM>) brand. It behaves just like you’re mentioning when it doesn’t like the brand.
