This piece went through rock island recently. 38-40. Turn of the century receiver. 16 3/4 barrel. Shorter tube. Bolt at one time seems to have been tack welded to the receiver. Saddle ring left intact. Likely a 20″ barrel that was cut back and the band moved. The fun question is why? Movie prop or gun smith special? Maybe a damaged or plugged barrel at one time? It also has a replaced butt stock. In most cases, alterations of this type were perpetrated by “Bubba” the backyard guncrank after a session at the Still.
