I’ve never seen a picture comparing gum wood to walnut. Could someone make that comparison or direct me to the correct thread with pictures?

Thanks

John

Of possible interest, Winchester began using Gumwood stocks on the lever-action Model 1892 and Model 1894 Carbines sometime in the year 1906.  Gumwood was never used on the “Rifle” variants of either model.  Further, Gumwood was not used when a Pistol Grip stock was special ordered, or if a non-standard shotgun butt was ordered.  Winchester used Gumwood into the mid 1920s and then transitioned back to Walnut only.

Thank you for the details. I have read about it in The Winchester book, but your post is very informative concise, thank you.
