Hi

I’m relatively new and ignorant on the subject.  I recently inherited some reloading tools and in the box is some 45-90 empty brass.  The brass cartridges are partially coated green.  I guess from age, oxidation, rust, etc.  Anyway my question is should I leave them or clean the green off.  If cleaning, then how?  Usually you hear not to alter old things but I’m not sure in this case.  Any help would be appreciated.  I’m posting pics of the tools and brass.  Would anyone know what they are all worth?

Those are empty brass so cleaning will not hurt the value but they are probably corroded to the point they are not good for reloading anymore. If they were original loaded shell then you don’t want to clean them.

Greg,

The tools are a little rusty and the box has seen better days but you have a complete reloading set with all the extras. I would think it worth $200 – $250 if the mold will case a good bullet.

Those cartridges were loaded with black powder.  They were not cleaned after they were fired, which caused them to turn green and black.  They could be cleaned up somewhat, but as mentioned above, it wouldn’t be safe to reload them or fire them again.
