I haven’t ever seen anything like it. The Korean war and scarcity of guns story seems odd. And the marking on the tang looks like laser engraving. Not sure why someone would put so much effort into faking a gun they are trying to get $900 for. If they hadn’t tried to fake it, they’d probably get closer to the $900
The serial number on it places the DOM in 1953 (late in the Korean Conflict). Production of the Model 94 was completely unaffected during the entire Korean Conflict, with nearly 400,000 made in the 4-year (1950 – 1953) timespan.
All of the “martial” markings on that Carbine are too neatly placed and stamped for a typical government inspector. Further, they are in locations not ever seen on authentic U.S. Government purchased Winchesters.
