Have a chance to buy a 94 short rifle. Just called Cody, and the researcher is out today, hopefully will hear tomorrow. So, its an 1894 deluxe short rifle in 38-55. 20″ half round, 8 3/8″ forend. Front and rear sights are the correct measurement from the appropriate end of the barrel. 50% receiver blue, good bore. Made in 1902. Seems correct, just need the verification.
How much of a premium would a deluxe short rifle have over a standard rifle?
This will be added to the survey.
If its a deluxe, what style of checking, grade of wood, is it unchecked, pistol or straight grip? Have no idea on a price, what are they asking?

Pistol grip, “H” style checkering. Plain wood. I have a 73 deluxe with 3X wood, and it is nothing like that. Its more in line with what would be on a “run of the mill” 1894.
No set asking price, I have a chance to make an offer before it goes to auction.
I was wondering if there was a “50% premium” or whatever for a short rifle. Along the lines of how the blue book evaluations work.
Hi, The short rifle You describe is a very desirable if it letters correct. ‘H’ style checkering would be uncommon on plain wood. Generally ‘I’ style was used on plain wood, but not always. In a recent Rock Island auction, a deluxe 1/2 oct, 24″ takedown rifle in 38-55 sold for $4600. Condition is going to drive the price.
