I don’t believe that Winchester ever made an “extra heavy” barrel for the Model 1894, and certainly not one that stood proud of the receiver frame ring. If the serial number is < 354000, you should contact the Cody Firearms Museum records office and obtain a factory letter.

If the corners of the barrel stick out beyond the receiver it means Winchester didn’t put it together.

It measures 1.039″ and 1.004″
86 John Madl’s website has some approximate measurements on 86’s Heavy’s and EH’s he has sampled over the years. John also told me his sampling shows heavy barrels vary in dimension more than standards weights.
Rapid taper, standard taper, extra heavy. All 45 caliber.
