Here for a slow day, I am posting a picture of an original, papered, Van Orden Sniper Rifle. Has it’s original scope, a Lyman STS.

Papers show it was bought by the US Army at the 1954 National Matches. Originally US marked, but some dumb, paranoid person ground the US off.

Rifle was a gift from a good friend in Birmingham. He is a retired Sgt, Major U.S.A.

The late Peter Senich said the rifle was probably used as Sniper equipment in Viet Nam and is shown in his book,”One Round War”. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to post a picture on this holiday.       Big LarryCopy-of-Van-Orden-Sniper-M70-001.jpgImage Enlarger
