Last year I was speaking to an old collector who told me he once owned a Winchester 1892 that had been specially chambered in 45colt for a Police Department in the 1930’s
Did this happen? I haven’t been able to find any information on this happening.

Owen I have seen a couple in Australia. They were in 45 ACP, and NOT done by Winchester. Eric

1892 were modified in .45ACP in Argentina in the 1930’s for the Santa Fe Police (santa fe de la vera crux, Argentina), they were modified by the Cordoba Arsenal (OTME = Organicacion Técnicca de Mecania Especializasa)
Most are of a “trapper” configuration and originally in 44WCF.
