Hi Big Mac,
Chapter 8 in my upcoming book devotes about 20 pages to the 13 different slings used on the Model 69/69A and references the other Winchester models that were applicable to each sling but I do not know of any other published reference which details the Winchester slings. I did a lot of research on the slings and suppliers and have information on other Winchester slings and suppliers which were not applicable to the Model 69/69A so that info did not make it into the book.
After the book is published it may be a good topic for a WACA magazine article. That will probably be the end of being able to pick them up on eBay for $20 though…. 😉

Factoring in the labor of digging through the 1000 ebay listings for leather slings alone (95% of them new-made or military), paying $20, if you’re lucky enough to find one, ain’t exactly stealing it! I’d rather pay much more for a properly identified sling if I could be spared all that wasted time of fruitlessly searching. The rub–and it’s a big one–is that the seller would have to know the correct ID in order to list it that way.

Jeff-
If you or your publisher is keeping a list of “pre-sale” customers for your book, please add my name to it. I want two copies (one for me and one for my Brother). At least be sure to post here where to buy it when it comes out!!!
Best,
Lou
