Anyone know how many 1894 rifles were made case color hardened? This one is in my collection.

155 rifles, and 2 carbines according to the ARMAX study of the first 353,999 records.

Beautiful rifle.

Gary – super 94 – the Rob Kassab website (Rare Winchesters) confirms the 155 rifles with a case hardened receiver – it further notes only 16 deluxe case hardened rifles were made.

The numbers from the ARMAX are from the records they have which is only the first 353,999 guns. There will probably be more case colored guns after that.

No, not if Winchester quit doing case coloring in 1901 or 1902.

Actually, No, there were not any after serial number 353999.  Winchester discontinued case color finishing on all models in August of 1901, and the records for the Model 1894 extend into May 1907.

Nice c.c, ’94 I have Ser#15333 letters as; rifle, 32-40, 28″ oct. bbl., plain trig., checkered stock, plain pistol grip, casehardened, r’cved Jujly1 1897, shipped July 2 1897. A few Years ago Jessie and I went through the list of case colored ’94,s and this the only one in this configuration. They are awful pretty and very special guns in  nice condition. Congratulations
