Seems like a good time to resurrect an older thread for the purpose of possibly generating comments that have to do with carbines that have a polished muzzle face.  I have two Model 94 carbines that have this feature.  One is high condition, and as would be expected with such condition, the muzzle is very bright and shiny.  The other one is in very nice condition, but not mint and, again, as would be expected for such condition, the muzzle is not as bright and shiny.  Like Mike Hunter notes in the following link, I have seen a few of these carbines myself that have a polished muzzle face, with two of them being in high condition.  That said, it is my belief that some of these carbines with polished crowns are factory work.

Here is a picture of one that was taken that does not do justice for the high quality of bluing or the polished muzzle either one, but then the picture was not taken to emphasize this latter point:
