This will be the last of the before and after threads. This is an 1894 Saddle ring carbine that you can easily see the difference after the Cosmoline was removed. It is quite sad there are 2 filled screw holes from a former scope mount. The gun is free from any pitting. Absolutely no cleaning was done other then the removal of the cosmoline. It did it’s job quite well. I am guessing these guns have been like this for 50 plus years. What looks like a dark patina came right off with a few wipes of acetone.
THIS ALL STARTED WITH JUST ONE GUN!
