Were all beach sights special order only? What do you think about the gun smiths value?

Steve,
For starters, that is not a Beach front sight. Instead, it is a Lyman No. 5 Combination front sight.
Both the Beach and Lyman No. 5 were special order sights, and are typically accompanied with a tang peep sight. I sincerely doubt that the Lyman No. 5 on that rifle is original (or special ordered).
The "gun smith" is way off the mark on the value… most of them are though.

Steve,
I agree with Bert, the gunsmith’s estimate is way high. I would say its about a $2000-$2500 gun depending if the bore is good. For that gun to be worth $7500 it would need to be 95% bright blue or better.
