I couldn’t help but smile given our recent discussion of rifles that will and won’t letter and interpretations of notations indicating a return. I was interested to note that not only does the caliber not letter, but neither does the barrel configuration (as well as the magazine). Not that I really doubt that Winchester put this different barrel on during one of the subsequent work orders. Still, given recent discussion, I smiled when reading the description referencing the return: “Without the shadow of a doubt…”
On the topic of letters, I’m perplexed why this one doesn’t have one? I was eager to see what the letter said about the sights. Anyway, an $80,000 Winchester and no one springs for a letter?

That one has a get out of jail free card with the letter stating “see letter”. I have run across a statement like that before.
