Hello,

Trying to find approximate value (trade-in and private-party sale) for a 1928 Model ’94 Nickel Steel 32ws that my mother inherited from my father when he passed away.

Any help appreciated.

See photos below in gallery or embedded.

I have a 98%+ M94 32 Special from 1942 I paid $850 for a few years back. Hard to tell with your carbine as the pics are too dark. Big Larry

Don’t take this the wrong way but your pictures show a 94 with the hammer at full cock ready to fire. I won’t even handle an empty one like that.

It was difficult to tell, as Larry notes, the photos are quite dark.  But my impression was not original blue.

Thank you for your responses so far. Somebody took a look at the rifle yesterday and noted that the butt stock was sliding off. The peep sight was sold separately last October and the tang screw (along with another small screw) was sold with the peep sight. See picture below. I’m thinking that I made a huge goof in selling the tang screw with the peep sight as that appears to be the only screw that holds the butt stock in place. Can anyone confirm this for me and/or let me know where the best place is I can get a replacement tang screw?

Unless you purchase another tang sight, you’ll need a shorter tang screw for that rear hole.  This would be the regular screw for that hole and a longer one has to be ordered when someone adds a tang sight.  The front screw is different as well as it is just a filler hole and the screw used is not made to hold down the front of the tang sight.  Replacement screws are easily found on Ebay.  Given the carbine appears refinished I would not trouble myself to find original screws.

I believe the shorter original tang screw has been found amongst my father’s property. That should hold the butt stock in place, once it’s replaced, correct?

The shorter front screw is not necessary for anything functional correct?

The “front hole” is simply filled with a round top plug screw.  They are very available and should not be a problem to locate.  RDB

You’ll need the rear tang screw to hold the buttstock in place.  If you have the shorter original tang screw, that’s going to look unsightly as it will stick above the tang.
