A lgs has just received a model 100 in 308.  It is a great looking rifle but from a little research it appears these had some problems.  I was thinking about getting but know having second thoughts.  What is your advice?

Kind of like the rifles myself.I know there is a firing pin recall out on them ,that is still in effect. If I got a chance to pick one up in great condition, at a decent price, I most likely would go for it.Especially if it were a .284.Smile

I had one in 243 for many years, shortened it up for my wife in the early 80’s. 12.5″ LOP as she is only 5′ tall. She shot a few deer with it, my son shot his largest buck with it over 20 years ago and still has not downed a larger one. My daughter shot her first deer and several more after with it. I used it on many deer drives and brought home more than a few. It has had only one malfunction in all the time in the field and it was no fault of the rifles. My wife eased the bolt closed instead of letting it close under it’s own power. Cost her the largest buck she has seen to date….. Great little rifles in my opinion. It’s in my son’s safe now, he picked up all the rest of the calibers offered in the 100. He doesn’t use it any longer but I believe his son (age 4) will someday………
