Not for me either.  Wouldn’t make a good hunting rifle given all the flash it would produce.  “Frosted” bore doesn’t inspire me either.  But they are correct – it does stand out. Their auction estimate is not overly generous.

If ever there was a gun that deserved a visit to Turnbull’s shop, this is it.  Maynard made a slew of B-Westerns, but he was no Tom Mix, Gene Autrey, or Roy Rogers.

Much as the rifle is in our, “beloved .33” as Tom mentions, this is just a plain .33 rife and would not be worth what Turnbull would charge to restore it.  There is really little place for it.  Yet someone will end up with it.

No, but a true .33 lover should feel a moral obligation to restore it, regardless of cost.  Or else take it on a Musk Ox hunt.

I’m a 33 lover and Ken Maynard fan, if it had good documentation, I’d toss a bid on it, but chrome wasn’t a thing in the early 30s, that was more a 60s or 70s thing. Their just tossing some bull to see if it sticks, hoping to bid it up, I don’t believe it will hit 1000
