Hi All

My name is Caryn I live in South Africa. I am hoping someone can help me. I am trying to find the age of my 30-30 as i have reason to believe that it is an antique. My serial number is however alfa numeric. BM895.

Could someone please help me with this. I would really appreciate it.

Kind Regards.

Caryn

Hello Caryn,

Winchester did not use alpha-numeric serial numbers on any of the original Model 1894 firearms.  Can you tell us what the other factory markings are on the rifle in question?

Is it a commemorative?  I don’t follow those closely but I believe they have 2 letters at the beginning of their serial numbers

I believe that SB is on the correct track.  The “BM” prefix was used on the Bat Masterson Model 94 commemorative rifles manufactured in the year 1980.
