Nice rifle Big Larry. Having one with all the right Winchester marked parts is very rare. Those old beasts are a hoot to shoot & is very accurate.
I saved this rifle and a few other US Property guns when I split up and sold off all my US military weapons. It is 100% correct and with the beautiful and correct cartouche, it stands out over many others I have seen. I have not, and probably, never will shoot it. I did shoot some blanks out of it at a Memorial Day event with the American Legion. I took that M1 sling off it and put a 1943 dated M1907 leather sling, more in keeping with WW2, although this rifle is a late 1945 and probably missed the war effort. The other Winchester I saved is a Drippy Mint M97 Trench gun and all its accoutrements. Thanks, Big Larry

Very nice. Haven’t jumped off the Garand cliff yet but need to do so, rifles like yours are the best reason to quit procrasinating.
A 100% correct M1 from WW2 now is a collectors prize. The cartouches were the first thing to go. GI’s liked their stocks boned and boned the cartouches right off the stock. Winchesters have always been hard to find. They didn’t make many compared to Springfield. The gentleman who gave me this rifle has a near mint 1942 Winchester Garand, and a bunch of others. Big Larry
