I have one to add 46557
Howdy,
I am the original poster for this thread. Thank you for letting me know about this piece. Can you post pictures? If so, pictures of the muzzle end, the loading port, the top of the receiver, and any barrel markings would be useful in documentation.
If you can’t post pictures, please provide descriptions of the above requests.
Lastly, feel free to email me if it is easier.

i have a 61 routledge s#47024
Can you send pictures? What does the barrel marking say?
thanks for your help!!
my 61 routledge is marked 22lr for shot only. it has the shotgun bead front sight. is in probably a 85-90 % very clean range. it is serial # 47024 which concerns me a bit cuz they usually say 45000-47000. cabelas looked at it and confirmed it was a routledge if that means anything. i wish i could send pix but i don’t have a way of doing that. if you have anything to say about this please do—i’m all ears and love to learn about winchesters. thanks

I believe I have one 47714 is the serial # model 61 1940 was my grandfather’s got it new on his 10th birthday any questions you can email mr thanks
I am assuming it says 22 L.R. – FOR SHOT ONLY on your barrel???
I have added the gun to my list of known Routledge Model 61’s.
Thank you.

I have a question. I am not very knowledgeable on these things. I have a model 61 winchester, 22 Win Mag is on the barrel, that was in my Dad’s gun collection when he died (a long time ago now). I looked up the serial number and if i remember correctly it appears to have been made in 1961. It has a 3×9 scope on it. My Stepmom stored it in her garage attic for a long time. It rusted on the outside at the end of the barrel and the magazine tube. I believe it is a smooth bore. I have looked dowm the barrel and I dont see any rifling. Is that possible? Did they make those in 22 Win Mag? Does it have any value since the rust is there?

Light surface rust can be removed with COPPER scrub pads or BRASS wool, CLP or Kroil and a bit of patience. I prefer the brass wool. Apply the oil and let it penetrate for an hour or so before scrubbing. Do NOT use the scrub pads that look like copper but are actually copper plated steel. A bit of rust happens to most guns over time, removing or stabilizing it will preserve whatever value it still has. Hopefully it’s just minor surface rust and will clean off with little or no damage to the finish. A good bore cleaning and application of CLP will be helpful in evaluating the bore.
Good luck! If you have any questions ask until you feel comfortable doing what needs to be done.

Good morning,
What is the serial number of the rifle please? What exactly is the caliber designation stamped on the left side of the barrel? When you look down the bore make certain that the chamber is open and slip a small piece of white paper or a a piece of a business card into the chamber to reflect light as you then look down the bore. This is the quickest and easiest “bore light” you can find.

Hi Renegade,Do you have serial # 45220 and 45983 on your survey?
- Thank you, Gerald
Gerald,
I previously had “logged” # 45220 with notes that it was a GI listed gun by Perry County Firearms. I believe they had it listed at ($8,795.00)
#45983 would be new to the survey. Can you provide a detailed description (or pictures) of the rifle??
Thank you for sharing and keeping this project moving!!
