Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the transition from blued to case coloured receivers occurred in August of 1901.

Therefore, has anyone seen a Winchester 1886 Extra Light Weight rifle with a case coloured receiver? Do these all post date the transition from case colouring to blued receivers?

Any ideas (serial number and date) when the first Extra Light Weight Rifle came out?

The ELW was standard with blued rec. even the pre1898 almost rare with CCH. Their listed as blue in early catalogs. I’m away from my catalogs, but I think it was first listed in 1895, I have one made in 1897, blued
