Yes sir. Pictures are definitely better out side. I have taken out side pictures of a few colts. I am planning on a Cody letter a.s.a.p. for the 1886. Also I have learned a lot from you. I am a member now and will definitely enjoy flipping through the magazines. I also have model 1873 s/n says 1885 date of manufacture. I am currently on the hunt for a 94. Must be 38-55 and a first model receiver.
EWMN,
Send me the serial number of your 73 and I will see if I have it in my research survey.

OfflineThis is s/n for the ’73 184647B. So, I ran into a problem a few years. Not sure if my safe got smaller or more stuff keeps coming home with me. So currently the ’73 is in my dad’s safe along with some more of my things. But, weather permitted (might snow around here tomorrow) I’m planning on going to the gun show tomorrow and dad lives between me and the show. I’ll be picking it up and bringing home. I’d like you to see some pictures of it. It’s beautiful

I’m getting snow here as well tomorrow probably about 11″. First good snow of the year. Looking forward to the pictures.

Thank you, I’m sure I will have many questions and it’s really good to know that any answers will be from a trusted and respected source. As far as my 1873 it’s 44-40 born on date 1885, wow talk about character. The old ’73 had a life and the wear to prove it. It’s perfect and I love it just the way it is. Bought it at a garage sale along with a model 1894 marlin in 32-20 manufactured date 1905. this is a ’94 I’m interested in.
I have that rifle documented in my research survey. Without the benefit of examining it in person, I did not see anything of concern in the auction pictures.

OfflineI am a new member, and am learning a great deal. I have a question about the NFA status of a model 94 manufactured in 1928 (sn 1029360). It has a very short barrel, about 14 inches. It was the saddle rifle of a cattle rancher in NM who was the father of a very good friend. They inherited it and I am hesitant to draw too much attention to it.
Thanks for any information.

The first thing to do is to verify the exact length of the barrel.
I do not have that serial number in my list of known and cleared “Trapper” Carbine. That stated, I have thus far documented a total of (34) short barreled “Trapper” Model 94 Carbines manufactured in the year 1928, and (46) in the year 1929. Those two years were the most prolific production for the “Trapper” Carbines.
If it does indeed have a 14-inch (or 15-inch) barrel, it is still possible to get it cleared by the BATF, but you will need to have inspected.
