Trying to help out a friend that was given an 1892 model with a serial number that indicates it was originally made in 1911 or 1912. However it is chambered for the 30 caliber M1 carbine round,marked on the barrel,beautifully done and looks like a factory rework. Any way to find out more about this item?

I can tell you this, the 30 carbine round was not developed until 1941 or 1942 so I rather doubt a 1912 vintage M92 came chambered for this round. Big Larry
I’m sure it was rebarreled or maybe converted from a 25-20. Just trying to find out if it was a factory job or by a very competent smith.

I would bet anything that it never left the Winchester factory in that configuration.

I have seen a Model 70 Winchester that was factory chambered for 30M1 it was used by Frankfurt Armory for testing. It sold for a very high price.
