Model 94 Lower Tang Question

The photo shows 3 lower tangs of Model 94s. The oldest one is on the left and the newest one is on the right. You will notice that the higher serial number on the right has the same style lower tang as the older gun, 2 screws. I thought that when Winchester started making the Carbines only they did away with the extra screw. Maybe this is explained in the Model 94 book but I don’t have my reference books with me.

Serial numbers from L to R 899523, 1411289, 1737826

The center photo shows the lower tang without a strain screw that was missing on some of the flat band models and then later, they were brought back again.

Makes sense as the center gun is a Flat band. Wink
