Just wondering if any one might know how many Model 1895 rifles were made in .303 British?

There is a guy advertising a decent one for sale here in Canada. He claims 1400, I have no idea of his source for that information. Seems like every other one I see here in Canada is chambered in .303 British but I would imagine the majority were shipped here. When you subtract the Russian contract 1895’s overall production wasn’t that large compared to the 92 or 94. I always thought the 1895 was the most undesired Winchester lever in the collector world. Unless it is a big bore they don’t generate much interest.

Yes the Model 1895 does seem to be the black sheep of the Winchester family.Only the .405 seems to gather much interest.

I don’t think that too many stateside were chambered in 303 Brit. I wanted one but had to search a long time to find one thus chambered and not adulterated. Mine’s a carbine. That’s hardly a concrete answer, just my observation.

I have seen a fair number of the .303 Model 1895 rifles over the years, but no where near as many as those for the .30 U.S. Army cartridge.I am guessing that as the .303 was the cartridge used by the Canadian Army and also for awhile the R.C.M.P., it was more popular in Canada than the United States.

Cannot say that I have seen one in a carbine. All those I looked were rifles.
