Hello,

The SN of that rifle is 432183 and it is a 1908 vintage rifle. It is all correct for its serial number range and is 100% original. It was during 1908 that the caliber stamp was rotated from the top flat to the left side one. This is an early example of that new position. Except for the few dings in the wood there is nothing wrong with it all.

Good luck
Michael

Michael, what’s your opinion on the front sight? File marks appear that someone angled the sight ❓ Nice gun and good Buy It Now Price

Road King,

My bet is that the rear corner of the sight got bent at some point and it was probably filed off as you pointed out. Certainly not a big detraction from the rest of the rifle which has sold? already!!!

Not sold. Instead the auction was pulled.

It had a buy it now price of $2800.00. More than a fair price for this gun IMHO.
