A rare bird indeed. I’m a little "cash poor" right now – perhaps one of you should jump on this amazing specimen.

Let’s see. Wrong caliber, wrong (should not be) proof stamped, wrong hammer, serial number is not centered, and wrong tang stamp for starters.

I sent the seller a message informing him that he is attempting to sell an illegally altered firearm, and that based on the hammer type and the upper tang marking, that it was actually manufactured sometime between April 1903 and December 1909. I also suggested that he remove the auction listing.

Everything seems correct on this gun, except the FAKE serial number.

It is more accurate to say "Illegally ALTERED" serial number.

Are you sure that’s not the ultra-rare special order lever? What about the fact that it’s not a first model (in the very scarce 25-35 especially)?

The seller sent me the following reply message;

"Thank you very much. I have contacted gun broker to get it removed. Thanks so much for passing on some knowledge.

Greatly appreciated.

George Lane"
