The markings on the tang look a little light, but I’m not completely convinced that this is a refinished gun. If it’s original, it’s a great deal.

As you know – I appreciate your expertise, and learn all the time from guys like you that can look at something like this and make an accurate & definitive statement.

Using this example…and just by looking at the same pics that we also looked at, what were the first signals that caught your attention? Frosty bbl and tube? wood finish?

The reciever and side plates looked pretty good, from my perspective, although I would look for more wear on the bottom of the gun near the elevator.

Mike,

The two big thing that caught my eye is of course the upper tang stamp and the rounding out of the lever spring screw hole on the bottom ahead of the lever.

After the tang stamp pic there was no need to look further, but the color looks wrong to me as well.

Bob, why does the receiver have a step in it for a 44 wcf? Or are all the late models stepped, regardless of caliber?
